Meet Your Mentor - Dan Ornowski

Hi I’m Dan - A percussionist who has experience playing professionally in groups ranging from Orchestras, to Musical Pits and Rock Bands. My true passion thought is Traditional Rudimental Drumming. I have mastered these rudimental techniques with the guidance of legendary rudimental drummers and have been sharing them with my students for the last 2 decades.

I first realized that this Traditional approach to playing and practice, were not commonly used anymore when I taught the University of Tennessee, (Knoxville) Drumline. While there I was tasked with re-writing their Drum Book in order to bring back some of these “lost practice's”. Since then I’m regularly a clinician at music educator conferences as well as a guest artist/clinician at Universities around the country where I share these techniques with students and educators alike, who desired to take their playing to the next level.

These Traditional Rudimental practice techniques have proven to be the simplest and most effective way to build better chops and have become the foundation to my teaching. 100’s of my students have made a drumming comeback and transformed their chops, regardless of their starting ability level!
