-For the Drum set courses it is highly recommended that you have a Drum set to practice on. It is very challenging to build the 4 way coordination and improve on the drum set without practicing. If you need one I’m happy to help you find a kit that fits your living situation and budget. Drum sets can usually be refunded through your ESA funds.Â
For Beginner to Intermediate Drumset PlayersÂ
In this course you’ll learn drumset fundamentals, including technique and coordination development through simple grooves and exercises. We’ll also learn how to read drumset notation and play with solid time and feel. This course dives right into drumset and is perfect for students who have some experience playing drums but haven’t dived into drumset much yet. This course is not for students who have never played drums before as we don’t dive into basic stick technique and hand development. For students with no prior experience playing drums I recommend starting with “Snare Drum Level 1” as a precursor to Drumset level 1. Upon course completion you will receive all necessary documentation to apply for High School Fine Arts Credit (0.5 credit).Â
For Beginner Snare Drummers
Learn the fundamental of snare drumming including technique, stick control, speed development and how to play a drum roll. This course is perfect for anyone who has 1 year of playing experience, or less. We will focus on developing and refining all the fundamental skills you need to continue on your drumming Journey whether that be on drumset or more advanced snare drumming. We will have weekly performance goals for rudiments / technical exercises and apply what we learn to short solo’s as we progress. Upon course completion you will receive all necessary documentation to apply for High School Fine Arts Credit (0.5 credit).
For The Advancing Drum Set Player
Expand your Drumset playing through multiple musical styles including; swing, funk, rock and world grooves.  Learn how to solo and move around the kit more freely and musically. There will also be opportunity to learn songs of your choosing. Ultimately student’s leave this course feeling much more confident in their ability to play in a live band and have more freedom to play the music they’ve always wanted to. Upon course completion you will receive all necessary documentation to apply for High School Fine Arts Credit (0.5 credit).
For The Advancing Snare DrummerÂ
Work towards technical mastery as you build speed and musicality into your chops. We’ll dive into the finer details of playing as we develop greater coordination through rudiments and exercises. We will learn snare drum solos that are suitable for your level/ goals in order to apply the things we learn to real world playing. Upon course completion you will receive all necessary documentation to apply for High School Fine Arts Credit (0.5 credit).

A Message From Your Instructor
Hi! My name is Dan and I’m a State Certified Public School Band Director who Specializes in Percussion. I have a bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters in Percussion Performance. Before settling into a public school job I held an adjunct percussion position at The State University Of New York at Fredonia. There I taught Percussion to non percussion Music Education Majors. I also spent 2 years teaching The University of Tennessee Knoxville, Pride Of The Southland Marching Band, Drumline.Â
Drumming has always been an important part of my life and the thing I’ve come to enjoy most, is sharing my experiences and knowledge with the next generation of drummers. I’ve been teaching private percussion lessons for over 20 years and have found that students really love and thrive learning Drums On-Line. The difference is that after a private lesson you go home and you’re on your own until the next week. These online courses provide students with more opportunities for support including weekly live instruction, Office Hours, a virtual video Library and a peer drumming community. And for families that are busy running from place to place having one less place to go to is always helpful! I look forward working with you and meeting you on your pre-registration call!Â
